It wasn't our first time in the Macedon Ranges; in fact, I lived a little further north-west in the town of Hepburn Springs for a year before and during lockdown, and it just so happens to be my partner's home turf (who made the double-page spread).
However, this time around I was commissioned to write a travel feature on the region during the snow season for an article coming out in spring. Turn up the ISO!
Every now and then the skies would open up to intermittent shards of light over ancestral lands and forest glades, and capturing it in all its misty glory was probably at its ethereal best, anyway.
Those grand old estates occupying either side of Ranges with their moss covered Fort Knox gates and secret hanshake locks giving over the 'culty' vibes make this place all the more mysterious!
